Los Angeles Kings at St. Louis Blues
Both teams have young teams that play hard and are exciting to watch. The Kings and Blues have both rebuilt their teams and both have playoff aspirations this season. Good game tonight between two teams that will battle to make the playoffs in the Western Conference.
The Kings played very well in the second half of last season but failed to make the playoffs. The Kings nucleus is very young and in the off-season they brought in veteran Ryan Smith to add some leadership to this club and so far he’s making a difference. The Kings have won 2 of their first three games and their offense is making the league take notice. LA has scored at least 3 goals in all three games and 6 goals in their past two games, both wins. The D has allowed 13 goals in three games so far but when your offense is clicking like it has been early in the season, you can live with that D. The Kings have played over the total in all three games they have played this season.
St. Louis has good goaltending but the return of a healthy Paul Kariya is helping the Blues offensive game. The Blues made the playoffs last season and are hoping to build on that experience. Over the last few season’s this team has gotten better and better and if the main core can stay healthy this team has the potential to surprise. After 3 games the Blues have scored 11 goals while allowing 10 and the over is 2-0-1 to start the year.
LA and St. Louis has found their scoring touch early in the season and that’s making their games a lot more fun to watch. Between the team they have played 6 games and the over is a profitable 5-0-1. Two of the last 3 meetings between the clubs have played over the total and tonight’s game will follow suit.

St. Louis Rams at San Francisco 49ers
The Rams are off to a 0-3 SU start and 1-2 ATS this season. On offense St. Louis is averaging a horrible 8 points per game while allowing the opposition 24.3 PPG and that alone explains the 0-3 record. In their last 28 games vs. a divisional opponent the Rams are 8-20 ATS. St. Louis is 5-13 ATS in their last 18 vs. a team with a winning record and in their last 56 road games vs. a team with a winning home record they are 17-38-1 ATS.
San Francisco have played the Cardinals, Seahawks and Vikings, three tough games to start the season and they are 2-1 SU and 3-0 ATS. The 49ers were a couple of seconds away from being a perfect 3-0 if not from another Brett Favre comeback win. San Francisco is averaging 22.3 PPG while giving up 17.7 per contest and they’ll stifle the Rams today. The 49ers are 3-0-1 ATS in their last 4 home games and 4-1 ATS in their last 5 divisional games.
The Rams are rebuilding while the 49ers are making big strides to get back to respectability. St. Louis is 2-6 ATS in their last 8 trips to San Francisco and the 49ers are 7-2 ATS in the last 9 meetings overall between the clubs. The 49ers will take this one this afternoon.

Pittsburgh Penguins at New York Islanders
The defending Stanley Cup Champions travel to Long Island to face a team that is trying to rebuild itself into a consistent contender. Several years ago the Penguins were right were the Islanders are now, a bad team that kept getting high picks in the draft. Pittsburgh drafted Crosby, Malkin and Fleury and the result have paid off large with a Stanley Cup. In June’s draft the Islanders had the #1 pick and they selected forward John Tavares a prolific scorer in junior who will hopefully turn this franchise around. It may take some time but the Islanders are on the right path.
The Penguins opened the season last night by raising their Stanley Cup Banner and beating the New York Rangers 3-2 at home. The Penguins are a very solid team and are considered a Stanley Cup Contender again this season. With Crosby and Malkin, 1 and 1A every team must bring their A game if they hope to shutdown one of these superstars. Dating back to last season Pittsburgh is 36-16 in their last 52 games overall. In their last 54 vs. a team from the Atlantic Division they are 37-17.
This will be the Islanders home opener and the fans first chance to see John Tavares in a regular season games. Not much is expected from this team but the one thing that you must see is a team that works hard and competes. The Islanders closed out last season losing 5 of their last 6 home games. In their last 58 overall they are 16-42.
New York has a long way to go to becoming a team that has a chance to win each and every game. The selection of Tavares was very good and the Islanders had a very good draft overall and there is no doubt that GM Garth Snow has them headed in the right direction. The team is young and will play an energetic game. Pittsburgh has won 6 of the last 7 meetings and is just too talented and focused to lose this one.
Play on the Pittsburgh Penguins -1.5 goals

Game Time: Thursday, October 1, 2009 10:00 PM
San Jose Sharks at Colorado Avalanche
This is the first game of the season for both teams and both teams have different expectation. The Sharks are a legitimate Stanley Cup Contender to start the season while the Avalanche are in the first year of a rebuilding phase.
Last season the Sharks suffered another disappointing playoffs and it was another long summer for the entire team and coaching staff. San Jose is a very solid team, they have solid goaltending, D and a very good offense. A couple of weeks ago the Sharks traded for a disgruntled Dany Heatley and he will help this team be an even bigger offensive power. The Sharks are 5-0 in their last 5 games vs. a team from the Northwest Division. The Sharks will look to put last years playoff loss behind them with a hot start to the season.
The Colorado Avalanche went through some big changes in the summer and the biggest one saw their Captain and Heart and Soul of the team, Joe Sakic, retire. Management is trying to rebuild this team into a playoff contender but it will take some time. Colorado is not a very deep team and they will struggle this season and against a good team like San Jose they’ll struggle a lot. Colorado has lost their last 7 home games in a row. The Avalanche are 8-22 in their last 30 vs. a team from the Western Conference and they are 3-13 in their last 16 vs. a team from the Pacific Division.
The Sharks have won the last 4 meetings between the clubs and are 5-2 in their last 7 trips to Colorado. Tonight the Sharks will easily take a bite out of the Colorado Avalanche.

Game Time: Sunday, September 27, 2009 4:00 PM
New Orleans Saints at Buffalo Bills
Drew Brees and the Saints offense has been red-hot to start the season and in week 3 they visit the Buffalo Bills and their offense has looked a lot better than expected. Add these two offenses plus these two defenses and the result will be a high-scoring game in Buffalo.
In week 1 the Saints put up 45-points vs. the Detroit Lions and they followed that up in week 2 by putting up 48-points vs. the Philadelphia Eagles. After two week the Saints are averaging 46.5 points per game. Drew Brees is leading the offensive attack throwing for a total of 669 yards and 9 TD’s after two weeks. New Orleans D is allowing an average of 24.5 PPG which isn’t very good but when your offense is averaging as many points as the Saints are, it can be overlooked.
The over is 5-0-1 in the Saints last 6 games played in September. The over is a profitable 20-7-1 in New Orleans last 28 games overall. The over is 13-4 in their last 17 games as a road favorite and in their lat 5 overall as a favorite the over is 4-1. The over is 19-7 in the Saints last 26 games following a SU win.
The Buffalo Bills offense really struggled in the preseason and many figured that their struggles would continue into the regular season but that hasn’t been the case. Buffalo scored 24 points on the Patriots in week 1 and in week 2 at home vs. the Bucs the Bills scored 33 points in the victory. Buffalo is averaging 28.5 PPG while the D is allowing an average of 22.5 points per contest. Trent Edwards is leading the offense and with wideouts like Owens and Evans you’ll be able to put up points. Fred Jackson who is filling in for the suspended Lynch at RB has looked very good for the Bills and he’ll do a lot of damage today.
The over is 4-0 in the Bills last 4 games played in September and their last 4 games played in week 3 have played over the total. Buffalo has played over the total in 4 of their last 5 games played. In their last 7 home games vs. a team with a winning road record the over is 5-2. The over is 9-3-1 in the Bills last 13 games played on turf.
The over is 2-0 for both teams to start the season and based on their offensive showings in the first two weeks of the season, this game will follow suit. Don’t expect a defensive battle in this one as it will easily play over the total.

Philadelphia Phillies at Milwaukee Brewers
The Phillies will have a chance to defend their World Series Championship when the playoffs start while the Brewers took a step back this season and won’t be making the playoffs. Philadelphia would like to get the playoffs started on a hot streak while the Brewers would love to win as many games as possible as the season winds down.
Philadelphia has a 89-63 record, not the best in the NL but only a couple of games back. The Phillies have won 9 of their last 12 games overall. In their last 53 games vs. a left-handed starter the Phillies are 36-17. The Phillies have won their last 6 games vs. a team with a losing record. The best move the Phillies made at the trade deadline was bringing tonight’s starter, Cliff Lee, to the team. Lee’s 7-2 as a Phillie with a 2.65 and the Phillies have won 8 of his 10 starts. Philadelphia has won 5 of his 6 road starts and they are 4-1 in his last 5 starts vs. a team with a losing record.
This has been a season to forget for the 75-78 Milwaukee Brewers. With Fielder and Braun in the lineup big things were expected from this team but it never happened for this season. The Brewers are 3-8 in their last 11 home games vs. a team with a winning record. In their last 22 games as a home dog they are 5-17. Milwaukee sends Manny Para to the mound and over his last 13 home starts the Brewers are 4-9. The Brewers are 3-11 in his last 14 starts as an underdog and 1-4 in his last 5 starts vs. a team from the NL East.
With Thursday’s win the Phillies are 10-3 in the last 13 meetings with the Brewers. With Lee on the mound tonight the Phillies get the big edge and they’ll easily take this one.

Game Time: Wednesday, September 23, 2009 3:30 PM
New York Yankees at Los Angeles Angels
A preview of a possible American League Championship Finals is taking place in Los Angeles. Both team’s will want to be on their games and not show any weakness incase they do meet-up in the post-season. All stats are prior to last night’s meeting between the clubs.
At 95-56 the New York Yankees hold the best record in baseball. After a rough start the Yankees turned it around and haven’t looked back. Although they haven’t clinched a division title their 5-game lead on the Red Sox is pretty comfortable. New York is 57-24 in their last 81 games overall. Recently the Yankees have struggled on the road and when AJ has taken the mound. Prior to last night’s game the Yankees had lost 4 of their last 5 road games. New York has lost 5 of Burnett’s last 7 starts overall. In his last 5 road start the Yankees are 1-4.
The Angels are 90-60 on the year and hold a 7.5 games lead over the Texas Rangers in the AL West. LA has won 4 of their last 5 games overall and are 7-1 in their last 8 home games heading into last night’s meetings with the Yankees. In their last 20 games vs. a team from the AL East the Angels are 14-6. A couple of weeks ago the Angels added Kazmir to the rotation and after being beaten in his first game as an Angel he’s looked very good over his last 3 starts, all LA victories. Over his last 3 starts Kazmir has an ERA of 1.42. Kazmir has given up 3 ER’s or less in 9 of his last 10 starts.
The Yankees have lost 5 of the last 6 meetings between the clubs. In their last 26 trips to LA, New York is 6-20. The Angels have had their number and with Kazmir facing a struggling AJ look for another Angeles win.

Game Time: Sunday, September 20, 2009 4:05 PM
Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Buffalo Bills
Neither team made the playoffs in the 2008 season and for the Bucs this season is the start of a rebuilding projects but for the Bills this is a season that they feel they should make the playoffs or big changes will take place in Buffalo.
The Bucs have a new head coach, a new starting QB and several new and young players on the team and it may take awhile before they get back to the playoffs. Raheem Morris is a young head coach that looks ready for this challenge and he’ll get this franchise back to their winning ways eventually. In their opener they lost 34-21 at home to the Dallas Cowboys. The offense lead by Cadillac Williams and Derrick Ward on the ground was good but the D really struggled and gave up some big passing plays to Romo and the Cowboys.
Tampa is 2-5 ATS in their last 7 games following an ATS loss and they are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games following a SU loss. In their last 6 overall the Bucs are 1-5 ATS and in their last 7 vs. a team with a losing record Tampa is 1-6 at the window.
The Buffalo Bills added Terrell Owens in the off-season to boast their offense and help this team get back to the playoffs after a lengthy absence. The Bills need to win games and make the playoffs or there’s a very good chance Dick Jauron will be out of a job. In the opener, on Monday night in New England the Bills gave the game away to the Patriots. Buffalo had this game won but ended up losing 25-24. Today’s game will show the character of this team and their ability to bounce back from that heart-breaking loss. TO only caught two passes in week 1 but expect him to be more busy this afternoon.
In their last 14 games played in week 2 the Bills are a money-making 11-3 ATS. Buffalo is a profitable 24-7-1 ATS in their last 32 games vs. a team with a losing record. In their last 17 home games vs. a team with a losing record the Bills are 13-4.
Look for the Bills to play a full 60 minutes in their home opener today and even their record a 1-1 to start the season.

The under is 6-0-1 in the Braves last 7 opening games of a series. The Braves have played the under in 4 of their last 5 home games and in their last 11 home games vs. a team with a winning record the under is 8-2-1. In his last 10 starts with 5-days rest between games the under is 7-3. The under is a profitable 13-6-1 in his last 20 starts on grass.

The under is 4-0 in Happ’s last 4 starts vs. Atlanta and 5-2 in Hudson’s last 7 starts vs. Philadelphia. Both pitchers are pitching well and will keep this a low scoring game.
